James Gale Byard

James Gale “Bud” Byard, age 81 of rural Osawatomie, Kansas died Saturday, June 4, 2011 to the Olathe Medical Center in Olathe, Kansas.

James was born March 16, 1930 in Kansas City Kansas. He was the younger of two children of James Milton and Gallilea May (Zink) Byard. The family moved to Missouri where James attended schools in the Harrisonville and Grandview areas.

Bud as many knew him was married November 10, 1951 in Huntsville, Arkansas to Jeanette Alma Thompson. They made their home in Rosedale, Kansas and became the parents of six children. They later lived in Olathe and moved to rural Osawatomie in 1963.

Bud served with the United States Marine Corp in Korea from1952-1954.

Bud was a farmer all of his life and also worked as a laborer. He was with the Kansas City Labor Union, Local 1290 for 37 years. He retired in 1992.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter, Shawnna Jo Dodson October 20, 2002.

He is survived by his wife Jeanette of the home; two sons, Jim Byard of Paola, Herb Byard of Osawatomie; four daughters, Patty Osborn of Lane, Kansas, P. D. Hunter of Paola, Kansas, Joyce Dodson of Osawatomie and Buddy Jo Tanck of Osawatomie; one sister, Betty of Texas; fifteen Grandchildren; ten Great Grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

He was cremated and a private service will be held at a latter time.
