ERMA HAMPTON
Erma Hampton, age 91, of rural LaCygne, Kansas, died Monday, June 20, 2011 at the Richmond Health Care and Rehabilitation Center in Richmond, Kansas.
Erma was born June 18, 1920 in LaCygne, KS. She was the seventh of ten children of Jesse and Coral May (Shattuck) Crisler. She attended the Fairview Country School and graduated from Parker Rural High School in the class of 1938.
Erma was married on August 26, 1940 to Robert Elvyn ‘Dutch’ Hampton in Butler, Missouri. In March of 1950 they moved to their present home, in rural LaCygne. They became the parents of two children.
Erma worked at the Osawatomie State Hospital, in Osawatomie, KS from 1952-1982. She began as a cook and finished as Food Service Supervisor. She was a member of Cadmus Grange #350 for 50 years, Loyal Workers Club, Family Community Education Unit of Parker, KS. She attended Parker United Methodist Church and was a member of the United Methodist Women.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years; parents; four brothers, Frank Crisler, Wayne Crisler, Alden Crisler and Jay Crisler; three sisters, Dale Cady, Eula Holden and Ruth Hay; one granddaughter, Cathy Hampton.
She is survived by two sisters, Sue Senate of Streator, IL., Rosalie Davis of Parker, KS.; one daughter, Donna and Claude Sutton of Houston, MO; one son, James E. and Sandra Hampton of Parker, KS.; five Grandchildren; six Great-grandchildren; ten Great-great-grandchildren; other family and friends.
Service will be 11a.m. Thursday, June 23, 2011 at the Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home. Burial will at the Cadmus (Elm Grove) Cemetery in Fontana, Kansas. Instate Wednesday after 2p.m. Visitation 6-8 p.m. Wednesday.
Memorials are to the Parker United Methodist Church and Alzheimer Association.
