JOSEPH LEON CULLOR
Joseph Leon Cullor, age 70 of Butler, Missouri, formerly of Drexel, Mo. died Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at the Medical Lodge Nursing Home in Butler, Mo.
Joe was born March 12, 1941 at Unionville, Missouri. He was the third of seven children born to Gilbert L. and Mary Ruth (Bishop) Cullor. He graduated from high school in 1958 at Cincinnati, Iowa.
He was united in marriage to Linda Sue Alexander on December 22, 1963 at Des Moines, Ia. They became the parents of three sons. They made their home in Des Moines for five or six years and then moved to Missouri.
Joe and his family made their home in several locations over the past 40 years. They had lived in Wichita, Ks. Edwardsville, and Ks. Springfield, Mo. And Long Lane, Mo. before moving to Drexel.
While in Wichita he worked for Cessna. He bought a gas station and bait house in Augusta, Ks. and also set up a glass business. His main occupation throughout his life was that of a carpenter.
Joe became a preacher and his ministry took him to Israel several times from the early 1980’s until their last trip to Israel in the year 2000.
He was an avid reader and also enjoyed mastering the craftsmanship of glass blowing.
He was a member of the Gospel Assembly Church in Kansas City, Mo.
He was preceded in death by his mother Mary Ruth Cullor, his younger brother Martin “Marty” Luke Cullor who died at the age of 15, and son Jonathan who died in 2003 in an automobile accident.
He is survived by his father, Gilbert L. Cullor; his wife Linda of the home; two sons and their wives, Aaron and Deanna Cullor of Merriam, Ks. and Timothy and Brandy Cullor of Belton, Mo.; his daughter-in-law, Gail Cullor of Paola; two brothers Paul Cullor of Az. And John Cullor of Cincinnati, Ia.; three sisters Elizabeth Dixon of Cedar Rapids, Ia., Judith Weaver of Nevada, Mo. and Naomi Alexander of Marshfield, Mo.; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Service 10am, Monday, June 27, 2011 at the Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home in Osawatomie, Ks.
Instate 2pm Sunday, June 26th.
Visitation will be 6-8 pm Sunday, June 26th at the Funeral Home.
Burial is at the Paola Cemetery, Paola, Ks.
