HAROLD DAVID McCARTY

Harold David McCarty, age 89 of Mount Ida, Ark., a former Osawatomie resident, died Tuesday, November 26, 2002, in Mount Ida.

He was born February 19, 1913, in Garnett, Kansas to Arlo and Cora Mccarty. He graduated from Parker High School in 1934.

He married Marjorie Jeanell Reed on May 10, 1939, at the Parker United Methodist Church.

Mr. McCarty was a farmer for many years, first near Parker and later near Osawatomie, until 1960, when the family moved to Osawatomie. After moving to town, he worked as a carpenter/handyman until 1963, when he became a police officer for the city of Osawatomie.

He retired in 1977, at which time he could devote more attention to his favorite hobbies of attending sales, traveling with his wife, visiting his children and grandchildren and turning “one man’s trash into another man’s treasure.” He was known for being able to fix anything.

He was a longtime member of the Beagle United Methodist Church.
