Helen Maxine(Waggoner)(Dickson) Idol


Helen Maxine (Waggoner)(Dickson) Idol, age 88, of Carlsbad, California died
Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at her home.


Maxine was born December 14, 1922 in Osawatomie, Kansas. She was the third
of ten children born to Andrew Jackson Waggoner and Elsie May (Icenogle)
Waggoner.


She grew up and attended the Osawatomie Schools, graduating in the class of
1940.


Maxine was married in Osawatomie on August 3, 1941 to Arthur Perry "Art"
Dickson, Jr. They made their home in Osawatomie and became the parents of
one daughter. Maxine began working for the Missouri Pacific Railroad in
1946. She worked in the office in Osawatomie in Administration and retired
from the Union Pacific Railroad in 1984 as Director of Administration after
38 years. They moved to Olathe in July of 1979 and Art died in October 25,
1981 in Olathe.


Maxine lived with her daughter from 1984-1994 and made several moves with
the family around the country. Maxine was married December 3, 1994 to Kenneth Jackson Idol in Portland, Oregon.


She was a member of the First Christian Church of Osawatomie and the First
Presbyterian Church of Rancho Sante Fe, California and a member of PEO. Maxine enjoyed playing
Bridge and doing needle point. She and Ken packed boxes to sent to the
Marines that were stationed in Afghanistan and Iraq after 9-11-01. Ken is a
retired Major from the Marine Corp.


She was preceded by her parents, one husband, Art Dickson, four brothers,
George, Arthur, Raymond and Paul Waggoner; two sisters, Juanita Wilson and
Delores Walton.


She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Jackson Idol; one daughter, Dana Kay Nave
of West Linn, Oregon, son-in-law James Merle Nave, two brothers, Lloyd
Waggoner of Dana Point, CA and Bob Waggoner of Overland Park, KS; one sister
Pauline Sawyer of Topeka, KS; two grandchildren, Kara Lynn Kraxberger and
James David Nave both of Portland, OR; one great-grandson Kaden Joseph
Kraxberger and one step-great-grandson, Colby Jacob Kraxberger.


Services will be held 10:30 am, Saturday, July 23, 2011, graveside at the
Osawatomie Cemetery, Osawatomie, KS.
