May Hightower, age 97, of rural LaCygne, Kansas died Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at North Point Nursing Center in Paola, Kansas.
May was born August 10, 1914 in Parker, Kansas. She was the oldest of eight children born to Aral and Cora Ada (Pellett) Stainbrook. She attended Parker Schools and graduated from Parker High School in the class of 1934.
May was united in marriage to William Foster Hightower at Garnett, Kansas on February 1st, 1940. They made their home in Linn County, Ks. and became the parents of two sons. Foster preceded her in death on December 4, 1998.
She was a proud supporter of the 4-H programs, enjoyed gardening, quilting and anything that involved cattle.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; three brothers; four sisters.
She was survived by two sons, Kenneth Hightower of LaCygne, Ks. and George Hightower of Katy, Texas; six Grandchildren and three great Grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 1:30pm, Saturday, October 29, 2011 at the Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home with burial at the Cadmus Cemetery, Cadmus, Kansas. Visitation is 6-8pm, Friday, October 28, 2011. Memorials are to William Foster and May Hightower Scholarship Fund.
