Matthew Ryan Millard, age 35, of rural Parker, Kansas, died December 8, 2011 at his home in Parker.
Matthew was born June 10, 1976 in the Anderson County Hospital in Garnett, Kansas. He was the second of four children to Theron Nuel and Billie Ann (Stifter) Millard. He graduated from Prairie View High School in the class of 1995.
During his life Matthew worked as a machinist, welder, and a truck driver. His last job was with H.D. Griffin of Carrolton, Missouri.
Matthew was the most kind, caring, and compassionate man you’d ever know. Matthew loved spending time with his dad. He and his dad repaired 18 wheeler trailers together and loved to work in the garden together. You should have seen the garden they grew. Matthew treasured his mom. When the roses were blooming he would pick a beautiful pink one and give it to her with a kiss on her cheek. He loved all three of his sisters. He would chase them around the house asking them if they needed a hug. Each one of his nieces and nephews meant the world to him. He taught them how to ride their bikes, pushed them on the swing, and “rockied” them when they needed to be cuddled. He also loved visiting with his buddies. Matthew’s other passions in life were music and studying the Bible.
Matthew is survived by his parents; three sisters: Amy Renee and Rick Kirkpatrick of rural Parker, Kansas, Anne Marie and Mitch Harsche of Springhill, Kansas, and Mary Elaine and Erick Pinkerton of rural Parker, Kansas. He is also survived by eight nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Matthew was preceded in death by a half-brother, Vince Millard, his maternal and paternal grandparents, his buddy Uncle Raymond, and cousin Megan Stifter.
Funeral services will be held at 10am, Monday, December 12, 2011 at Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home in Osawatomie, KS with burial at Beagle Cemetery in Beagle, KS. He will be in-state on Sunday, December 11, 2011 after 1pm followed by visitation from 6-8pm. Memorials are to the Matthew Millard Memorial Fund.
