Maria Viola Gomez

Maria Viola Gomez, age 82, of Katy, Texas, died Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at the Memorial Herman Hospital in Katy, Texas. Maria is the mother-in-law of Randy Webster, formerly of Osawatomie, Kansas.

Maria was born February 25, 1929 in Chiloe, Castro, Chile to Francisco and Maria Julia Subiabre. She was one of nine children.

She attended school in Chiloe, Castro, Chile and grew up in the Catholic Church.

Maria was married February 8, 1956 in Comodoro Rivadavia, Argentina, to Alfonso Gomez and made their home in Argentina until 1992 when Alfonso died. Since 1992 she had lived with her daughter and family in Trinidad and Tobago, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Santa Cruz, Bolivia and Katy, Texas.

Maria was a Tailor for 36 years before retiring in 1992.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 36 years, in Argentina, April 19, 1992; one brother and one sister.

She is survived by one daughter, Sara Maria (Gomez) Webster and husband Randy; four brothers; two sisters and three Grandchildren, Melissa, Melanie and Megan Webster.

Graveside service will be held 10 am, Monday, February 13, 2012 at the Osawatomie Cemetery. Visitation 6-8 pm, Sunday, February 12, 2012 at the Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home.
