Ruth Marie (McClellan) Craig, age 85, of Osawatomie, Kansas, died Sunday, February 12, 2012 at Vintage Park in Osawatomie, Kansas.
Ruth was born June 21, 1926 in Portland, Missouri to John Robert and Dora (Ladman) McClellan.
She graduated from Mt. Zion Bible School, in the class of 1945.
Ruth was married on July 28,1961 to Nolan Earl Craig. They became the parents of one daughter Pamela.
Ruth became an educator the year she graduated from high school by passing a test offered to teachers during the war. She taught from 1947 to 1997, off and on. She obtained several college diplomas; one was a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from Lincoln University, Jefferson City, Mo. She could have had a doctorate, which she felt was unnecessary. One of her many published poems were published in the book “The Best Poems of the Year”. She sold some paintings and occasionally served as a lay-preacher.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; step-daughter, Barbara Ann Craig; three siblings, Henry Wilson McClellan, Marvin McClellan and Rosanna Dillon; nephew, John Robert McClellan and great-Grandchild, Jordan L. Flaherty.
She is survived by her daughter, Pamela R. Jumet and husband Steve; three Grandchildren, Wendy J. McCoy, Rusty D. Thomas and Skylar M. Jumet; four Great Grandchildren, Dominic T. McCoy, Kennedi T. Frederick, Landon Thomas and Christopher Garrison; nieces and nephews, Donna Burry, Carolyn Parks, Sandra Gibson, Marita Bruell, Kjarton McClellan, Sharon Stites, Dennis Nickleson, Ricky Nickleson and Raymond Nickleson; and many friends.
Services will be 2-4pm, Sunday, February 19, 2012 at the Lions Hall, #1 Ray Woerth Drive, off of ChurchHill Drive, Fulton, Missouri.
Burial will be at the Callaway Memorial Gardens, Fulton, Missouri, at a later time.
