Ava Jean Stevens, age 76, of Parker, Kansas, died Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at North Point-Skilled Nursing, Paola, Kansas.
Ava Jean was born June 10, 1935 in Floresville, Texas to Harold Henry and Mattie (Timmerman) Gray. She was eldest of two children.
She graduated from South San Antonio High School in the class of 1953.
Ava Jean was married on November 19, 1955 in Kansas City, Missouri, to Samuel “Sam” Stevens. They made their home in Parker, Kansas. They became the parents of three children.
Ava Jean was a stay at home mom.
Ava Jean was a member of the Swan Chapter of Order of Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, John Henry and one daughter, Melissa Hope Orth.
She is survived by her husband of the home; one son, Randall Stevens of Paola, Ks; one daughter, Belinda Stevens of Topeka, Ks; Granddaughter, Gabrielle Orth of Centerville, Ks; brother in-law, Max Stevens of Alabama; sister-in-law, Annie Henry of Lakehills, Texas; Mike White and family; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 am, Monday, February 27, 2012 at the Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home in Osawatomie, Ks. with burial at Cadmus Cemetery. Visitation is from 2-4 pm, Sunday, February 26, 2012.
Memorials are to Odyssey Hospice.
