Pauline Cresse, age 78, of Osawatomie, Kansas, died Monday, February 27, 2012 at her home surrounded by her family.
Pauline was born January 13, 1934 in Block, Kansas to Earl and Ruth Pauline (Breckenridge) Zuel. She was the fourth of seven children.
She graduated from the Paola High School in the class of 1951.
Pauline was married in 1952 to Richard Laughlin at Paola, Ks. and became the parents of four children. The marriage ended in divorce in 1958. She then married Robert LaVerne Cresse, November 17, 1960 in Miami, Oklahoma and became the parents of one child.
She began working in 1960 in the Miami County Treasurer’s office, she worked with Katy Jones in the 70’s delivering ice throughout several counties, in the late 1970’s and early 80’s she owned her own clothing shop The Clothes Patch and through the 1980’s and 1990’s she worked in real estate with Frank Platt Realty.
Pauline was a former member of the Ladies Aux. of the VFW, a supporter of Disabled Veterans, a K U fan and a lifetime member of the First Baptist Church.
She took pride in helping to raise her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, coached girls’ softball for her daughter Cathy, coached Little League Baseball for her grandson Aaron, and enjoyed playing pitch every Friday with “The Girls” and playing pitch, pinochle, & penny poker with her family and friends throughout her life.
She was preceded in death by, both parents, three brothers Claude, Robert and Jim Zuel, her husband Robert L.Cresse, two grandsons Troy Cresse and Luke Cresse, and one granddaughter Rachel Dalton.
She is survived by, three sons: Doug Cresse of Edmond, Ok. , Larry Cresse of Ionia ,Mo. and Timothy Cresse of Osawatomie, Ks. two daughters: Catherine Burns and Linda Dalton both of Osawatomie and one sister Earlene Packard of Osawatomie, two brothers,Don Zuel of Osawatomie and Leslie Zuel of Louisiana, and 16 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at 10am, Friday, March 2, 2012 at the First Baptist Church in Osawatomie, Ks. Visitation 6-8pm Thursday March 1, at the First Baptist Church. Memorials can be made to First Baptist Church of Osawatomie.
