Helen Mae Mcbride

June 28, 1919 — March 2, 2012

Helen M. (Loch) McBride, age 92, of Osawatomie, Kansas, formerly of Fontana, Ks., died Friday, March 2, 2012 at the Olathe Medical Center in Olathe, Kansas.

Helen was born June 28, 1919, to Gus and Flossie (Matney) Loch. She was the second of five daughters.

Helen was raised south of Beagle and went to local schools, graduating from Parker High School in the class of 1938. After she graduated she attended nursing school and worked at the Osawatomie State Hospital and briefly in Denver, Colorado.

Helen was united in marriage to Charley B. Kittrell in 1942. To this union seven children born. They resided in the Beagle and Paola areas. In 1974 she was united in marriage to Paul V. McBride of Fontana, Kansas. He died in 1991.

Helen was a presser at Smith Garment Factory of Paola, Ks and later worked at King Louie Caps of Paola, Ks.

She enjoyed gardening and canning her produce. Her garden bounty was shared with family and friends. Her pride and joys were her grandchildren and later, great-grandchildren.

Helen was preceded in death by; her parents; her husbands; eldest son, Frank Kittrell, M.D.; two grandchildren, Jeremy Clinton and Jamie Pobuda; one great-granddaughter, Layla Tacy.

Helen is survived by; two sons, Doug Kittrell of Kansas City, Missouri and Chuck Kittrell of Council Bluffs, Iowa.; four daughter, Charlene Lee Woodward of Seneca, Missouri, Joyce Clinton of Mound City, Kansas., Janice Cornett of Paola, Kansas. and Judy Elvey of Reno, Nevada; four sisters, Katherine Haas-Daulton of LaCygne, Kansas, Elsie (James) Wilson of Osawatomie, Kansas, Norma Stephens of Osawatomie, Kansas and Sharon Stites of Tucson, Arizona; eleven Grandchildren, six great-Grandchildren and many friends.

Helen bequeathed her body to University of Kansas Medical Center. She was a cancer survivor for twelve years.

A memorial service will be 3pm,Sunday, April 22, 2012 at the United Methodist Church of Fontana.
