Buel Wayne Talley, age 60, of Osawatomie, Kansas died unexpectedly Saturday, March 17, 2012 at his home.

Buel was born October 2, 1951 on a roadside near Spring Hill, Kansas. He was the second of three children born to Buel Leo and Veronica Mae (Canon) Talley.

Buel has always lived in Osawatomie, and graduated from the Osawatomie High School in the class of 1969.

After high school he worked for Sheehan Dairy and Behm. In 1971 he started work for the Missouri Pacific Railroad as a fireman. He was a business owner of K.I.T communications in the 1980”s. He retired in 2002 as an Engineer from the Union Pacific Railroad.

Buel was member of the First Presbyterian Church, United Transportation Union or Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and the Elks Lodge #921 of Osawatomie, Ks.

Buel loved spending time with family and grandchildren. His grandchildren were his life. He also enjoyed working in his yard, growing flowers, feeding the birds and squirrels. During the summers, Buel converted his backyard into “Papa’s World’s of Fun” for the family.

He enjoyed watching basketball, especially March Madness and KU. He thoroughly loved life and appreciated every moment.

He was married June 10, 1970 in the First Presbyterian Church in Osawatomie to Lolita Joann Newman. They made their home in Osawatomie and became the parents of two children. They were divorced in 1989.

Buel was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Jolean Mae Talley.

He is survived by two daughters Stephanie and Harry Clark of Osawatomie, Ks and Shawna and Randy Conrad of Gardner, Ks; one brother, Michael Eugene and Debby Talley of Osawatomie, Ks; four Grandchildren, Jozee Clark, Halley, Macey and Sutter Conrad; He was also survived by his fiancée, Susan Wilson and her daughter, Aubrey of Osawatomie, Ks. many nieces , nephews and other relatives and friends.

Funeral service 10am, Friday, March 23 at the Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home in Osawatomie followed by burial in the Osawatomie Cemetery. Visitation from 6-8 pm, Thursday, March 22 at the Funeral Home.

Memorials to the Osawatomie Alumni Association, to be used as needed.
