Ronald Lee Burton

Ronald Lee “Jack” Burton of Lane, Kansas was born May 4, 1936 near Adrian, Missouri the son of Charlie Ralph and Golda May (Drury) Burton. He departed this life on Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at his home in Lane at the age of 75 years, 11 months and 20 days.

On June 20, 1958 Jack was united in marriage to Glenna Rae Ethridge at the Dayton Community Church, Dayton, Missouri.

Jack was employed as a foreman for several heavy equipment companies’s and retired from Thermo RE-Tec in Sugar Creek, Missouri. Earlier he had been a Ranch Manager for several farms in the area. He was an Army veteran of the Korea War, a former reserve officer for the Clay County, Missouri Sheriff’s Department, 4-H leader and longtime member of the United Rodeo Association. Jack enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, horse back riding and traveling. He had moved to Lane, Kansas in 1996.

Besides his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his brother, Herb Burton.

Jack is survived by his wife, Glenna R. Burton of the home; three sons, Ralph Burton and wife, Rose, Parker, Kansas, Ron Burton and wife, Monica, Louisburg, Kansas, Randy Burton, Lane, Kansas; eight grandchildren, Eric, Marci, Cherish, Cala, Lacey, J.D., Dwight and Rebecca; seven great-grandchildren; six brothers, Tony Burton, Jerry Burton and Jimmie Burton all of Garden City, Missouri, Charles “Peanut” Burton, Cameron, Missouri, Dennis Burton, Clinton, Missouri, John Burton, Urich, Missouri; two sisters, Sandra Keck and Marcella Vogeler both of Garden City, Missouri; other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 29, 2012 at 2:30 p.m. at the Dickey Funeral Home, Garden City, Missouri. Burial will be in the Dayton Cemetery near Garden City, Missouri.

The family will receive friends Sunday, April 29, 2012 from 1:30 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
