Henry Franklin Lake, age 82 of Osawatomie, Kansas, formerly of Blue Mound, Kansas, died Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at the Life Care Center of Osawatomie.
Henry was born March 6, 1930 in Blue Mound. He was the fourth of six children born to Oliver Winsett Lake and Eva Josephine (Provest) Lake.
Henry attended the Blue Mound Schools and worked for the Blue Mound Street Department.
Henry was married to Martha Ellen Wright.
They made their home in Blue Mound and became the parents of three children.
He and Martha moved to Osawatomie in early 2007.
He taught his daughter, Mary how to drive and the family liked fishing together. He was a carpenter and liked going to auctions, garage sales and flea markets, he loved collecting things. Henry loved animals. He kept dogs and loved feeding squirrels, birds and cats, even an Iguana.
He attended the Xenia, Ks. Baptist Church.
Henry was preceded in death by his parents; one infant son, David Lee Lake; one brother, Oliver Winsett Lake Jr.; two sisters, Elva Knight and Helen Rudisill.
He is survived by his wife, of the home; one son, Roy Franklin Lake of Ottawa, Ks.; one daughter, Mary Delores Lake of Osawatomie, Ks.; two sisters, Mary Yoakum of Blue Mound, Ks. and Thelma Mata of Kansas City, Ks.
Funeral Services will be at 10am, Friday, June 29, 2012 at the Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home in Osawatomie, Ks. followed by a Committal Service at 12 noon in the Sunny Slope Cemetery in Blue Mound, Ks.
Henry will be in state from 1 to 8pm, Thursday, June 28th at the Funeral Home. Memorials are to the Henry Lake Memorial Fund.
