Albert LeRoy Clark age 92, of Osawatomie, Ks. died Tuesday July 24, 2012 at the Golden Living Center in Springhill, Ks.
Albert was born October, 16, 1919 to Clarence Albert and Sadie Rae (Tindel) Clark in rural Osawatomie. He was the oldest and only son of four children.
He attended Parker, Ks. schools and graduated from Parker High School in the class of 1939.
Albert drove a school bus while still attending school his senior year.
July 29, 1942 he enlisted in the Army. While in the service he went to the military Medical Corp school and auto mechanic school at Camp Barkley Texas. He was a heavy truck driver, mechanic and ambulance driver while in the Army and even worked on General Dwight Eisenhower’s car in England. Also on occasion was the chauffeur for the General.
While, in WWII, Albert served in Central Europe, Northern France, and Ardennes Rhineland. He received four Bronze Service Stars.
Albert married Roberta May Waller on June 24, 1951 in Osawatomie and they became the parents of three children.
He and his family have made Osawatomie their home since 1951.
Albert worked as a mechanic for B Square Garage and M.A.C. Motors both in Osawatomie. In 1967 he and his wife became the owners of the Montgomery Ward Catalog Agency in Osawatomie until 1981when he retired. After his retirement he drove a school bus for Osawatomie for many years. During his lifetime he was always a farmer, farming on his brother in-laws land in Linn Co. Ks.
Albert was a member of the First Baptist Church in Osawatomie.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Velma Clark Byers Stainbrook.
He is survived by his wife Roberta of the home, his children: Carol R. Cadwell and husband Gary of Owasso, Ok. , Mark A. Clark of Osawatomie, Ks. and Michelle A. Rusnak and husband Charles of Olathe, Ks. Two sisters, Dorothy Anderson Calvin of Lawrence, Ks, and Rosie Hodgson, of Tulsa, Ok. Four grandchildren: Nathaniel Cadwell of Owasso, Ok. , Madison, Colton, and Chase Rusnak of Olathe, Ks.
