Thelma Marie (Hodgson) Husted Jenkins age 93, of rural Mound City, Kansas, died Monday, July 30, 2012 at Kansas City Hospice & Palliative Care House in Kansas City, Mo.
Thelma was born March 2, 1919 in rural Fontana, Ks. She was the oldest of four children born to Warren Alva and Byrd Ellen (Poe) Hodgson.
She attended Parker schools and graduated from Parker High School in the class of 1938.
She taught grade school at Cadmus for a few years.
Thelma was married to L. Husted and they had one son who was only two years old when his father died.
Thelma then married Charles Leroy “Bus” Jenkins on January 18th 1946 in Kansas City, Kansas.
In 1953 “Bus” adopted her son Donnie.
They made their home in Pittsburg, Kansas. Later moved to Winfield, Kansas, Golden, Colorado and Kansas City, Kansas. Settling in Mound City, Kansas in the early 70’s.
Thelma was a great seamstress, she made custom drapes for many places, the Mound City Courthouse and one of the dormitories in Windfield, Ks. are just two of them.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a set of twin brothers, Lloyd Lyman Hodgson was only three days old. Herman Gordon Hodgson died of pneumonia at the age of three years.
Thelma is survived by one son, Donnie Lyman Husted Jenkins and his wife Kay of Humansville, Missouri; one sister Mildred Donahue of Portland, Oregon, two grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
