Lottie Pauline Sharp, 88, of Osawatomie, Kansas, died November 20, 2012 at Delmar Gardens Nursing Home in Lenexa, Kansas.


Pauline Henness was born on March 15, 1924, in Fontana, Kansas. She was the daughter of Awnee Henness and Gladys (Morain) Henness. She had three brothers and one sister.

She graduated from Fontana High School, she also took classes at Fort Scott Community College.


She married Robert “Bob” Lee Sharp on Oct. 27, 1940, in Mound City Kansas. They made their home in Osawatomie and raised eight children. Pauline and Bob were married for almost 61 years. He preceded her in death in May of 2001.

Pauline loved to crochet, and during her life created more than 200 Afghans and gave them to all her children and grandchildren who she loved to spend time with.

She worked for the Osawatomie State Hospital, Dr. Howard Niece and The Osawatomie Cable where she made many friends.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Osawatomie.


Those preceding her in death were a son Wayne Sharp, her brothers, Vernon Henness and Awnee Henness and her sister Delores Douglas.


Survivors include a brother, Commodore Henness of Corvallis, OR, her five sons: Robert Sharp of Sarasota, FL., Donald Sharp of Palestine, TX., Mark Sharp of Paola, KS, Allen Sharp of CA, and Eric Sharp of Lee's Summit, MO her two: daughters Susan Hiles of Overland Park, KS., Lisa Presley of Springhill, KS ; 26 grandchildren, and 36 great-grandchildren.
