Charles Merdith “Bud” Pollock age 87, of Goodrich, KS died Sunday November 25, 2012 at his home.

“Bud” was born on December 17, 1924 in Joplin, Mo. he was one of five children born to Charles Jasper “Jap” Pollock and Catherine Louise Harper Pollock.

On August 6, 1943 “Bud” enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was a truck driver while serving in WWII. “Bud” participated in the action against the Japanese on Saipan and in the occupation of Japan. He was in the Aslatic Pacific Area from Dec. 21, 1943 thru Dec. 22, 1945. Serving in the Hawaiian Islands; Marianas Islands; Japan. He received an honorable discharged from the U.S. Marine Corp on January 4, 1946. On March 9, 1949 “Bud” enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard in San, Francisco, California. He served as an Engineman and in the Port Security Unit. He received an honorable discharge from the U.S. Coast Guard on August 4, 1952. After his discharge he traveled all around the United States working as a truck driver and a miner, just enjoying the country.

“Bud” married Ina Lou Bruton on November 19, 1953 in Columbus, KS. They became the parents of three children.

“Bud” later went to work for Inland Cold Storage (Beatrice Food Service) as a dock worker from May 5, 1963 until he retired on February 5, 1987.

He and his family lived mostly in the Kansas City area until the 1990’s when he and his wife Ina, moved to Goodrich. Ina died July 20, 2009 they were married for over 55 years.

“Bud” was preceded in death by his wife, his son Monte Pollock this year on Feb.3, 2012, his brother, Gene Allen Pollock and his three sisters: Lorene Brown , Catherine Pollock and Ester Pollock.

He is survived by his daughters: Rose Bowman of Goodrich, KS and Ina Frakes of Shawnee, KS.
Seven grandchildren and two great- grandchildren.
