Berniece Alice Deel.....Age 96

Berniece Alice Deel age 96, of Osawatomie, KS, went to be with the Lord, Monday, December 24, 2012 at the Life Care Center of Osawatomie.
Berniece was born August 18, 1916 in Paola, Kansas. She was the oldest of three children born to Fred and Marie (Block) Minden.

She attended school in Paola, KS and graduated in the class of 1934.

On June 14, 1936 she married Delton Thurman Deel. They became the parents of seven children. In 1943 they made their home in Osawatomie until 1959 when they moved to their farm. They were married for 61 years.

Berniece worked for Davies Laundry and Dry Cleaning in Paola for two years and volunteered at the First Baptist Church Clothes Closet for nineteen years.

She had been a member of the First Baptist Church since 1943, a member of the Mera Sunday School Class, a board member of the Osawatomie Museum Foundation Inc. and a member of the Rebecca Lodge #391.

Berniece was preceded in death by her husband and two infant daughters Helen Marie Deel and Joann Deel.

She is survived by two sons: Cecil Wilson and wife Bonnie Deel of Loma Linda, Mo. and Lyman Arthur and wife Joanne Deel of Bellflower, Calif., three daughters: Carol and husband Fred Brocker of Paola, Ks, Faye and husband Wayne Mizer of Kansas City, Mo. and Stanley and husband Bob Cole of Osawatomie, Ks, two brothers: Melvin Minden of Osawatomie, Ks. and Marvin Minden of Louisburg, Ks. thirteen grandchildren, twenty-six great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.

Instate 1-8pm, Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at the Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home, Osawatomie, Ks. Services will be 10:30 am, Thursday, December 27, 2012 at the First Baptist Church in Osawatomie. Private family burial at the Osawatomie Cemetery, Osawatomie.
