Mildred Velma Wagers age 98, of Osawatomie, Kansas died Monday, April 22, 2013 at Delmar Gardens Overland Park, Kansas.

Mildred was born October 3, 1914 in Parker, Kansas. She was the only child of Charles Eli Vail and Ella Mae (Williams) Vail.

Mildred grew up and graduated from the Parker High School in the class of 1932. She then attended the Pittsburg State Teachers College in Pittsburg, Kansas.

She went to work for the U.S. Government at Parsons, Kansas doing clerical work for a WPA or CCC Project during the depression.

She was married in Roswell, New Mexico to Ralph Rexford “Rex” Rogers on May 23, 1936. They made their home in Pratt, Kansas and became the parents of two sons. The marriage ended in divorce in 1952.

The family moved to Parker and Mildred worked for the Missouri Pacific Railroad as a clerk secretary from 1951 until the shops closed in 1965.

Mildred was married to Goble B. Wagers in LaCygne, Kansas on October 2, 1957. They made their home in Osawatomie.
Mr. Wagers died September 19, 1971.

Mildred worked at the Osawatomie State Hospital as a clerk stenographer from 1969 until 1975. She then transferred to Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas.

Mildred loved to dance and was an excellent pianist and played for regional dance bands, church and even for silent movies in Parker, Kansas. She very much liked to play bridge and did until eyesight and arthritis prevented her from playing.

Mildred was a member of the First Christian Church of Osawatomie and an 80 year member of the Parker chapter #307 of the order of the Eastern Star Parker, Kansas.

Mildred is survived by her two sons: Charles R. Rogers of Overland Park, Kansas and Michael V. Rogers and his wife, Karen of Manhattan, Kansas. Three grand children: Kelli Rogers of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Kristy McKee and her husband, Jud of Santa Barbara, California and Jon Rogers of Overland Park, Kansas. Three great-grandchildren: Miriam Rose Rogers and Mackenzie Rex Rogers both of Overland Park, Kansas and Michael William McKee of Santa Barbara California.
