Homer William McCammon age 87 of Parker, Kansas died Tuesday April 23, 2013 at the Olathe Medical Center in Olathe, Kansas.
He was born October 8, 1925 in Somerset, Kansas one of eight children born to Henry Archie McCammon and Myrtle Mae (Ferris) McCammon.
He and Hazel Pauline Debrick were married December 21, 1946 in Paola, Kansas. They had four children.
He was drafted into the United States Navy, August 15, 1944. He spent his time on ship as a gunners mate except when he lost his ship to a typhoon. He was stationed in Okinawa, Japan, where he and his brother, Rueben, who was also in the Navy, spent some time together. When he was discharged on June, 26, 1946, he returned home and began farming.
He also worked at Sunflower Ordinance in DeSoto, KS, Bendix Aviation in Kansas City, MO, Walters Contruction, In Paola, KS, Osawatomie State Hospital, and several other jobs, but he never gave up farming.
Homer is Proceeded in death by his wife: Hazel, Four Brothers: John of Goddard, KS, Charles of Amoret, MO, Rueben of Haysville, KS, and James of Hutchinson, KS, and One sister: Destia Barret of Gravette, AR.
Homer is survived by, Three sons: William of Emporia, KS, James (Linda) of LaCygne, KS, and John (Marsha) of Sedalia, MO, and One Daughter: Betty (Jay) Lethcho of Fontana, KS. 10 Grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, and 2 sisters; Ellen Price, of Bentonville, AR, and Mary Lucille Humphrey of Emporia, KS; his very dear friend Charlie Singer of Parker, Kansas and his lunch partner, Evelyn Schlesner of Osawatomie, KS.
