June Opal Weis age 81, of Paola, Kansas formerly of Osawatomie, Kansas died Friday May 3, 2013 at her home.

June was born June 30, 1931 in Melvern, Kansas. She was the second of five children born to Richard and Edith May (Criqui) Allan.

She attended the Melvern schools.

June was married April 5, 1953 to Charles Owen Weis in Ottawa, Kansas. After his military obligation with the U.S. Air Force they settled in Osawatomie.

The family moved to Osawatomie, Kansas in 1956 when Mr. Weis went to work for the Missouri Pacific Railroad. They became the parents of three children. They moved to Garnett, KS in the early 1980’s and then to Melvern, KS in the late 1980’s. Mr. Weis died June 6, 2010.


June moved to Paola on April 20, 2012.

She was a full time homemaker but she did work outside of the home a few places include: Ralphs Food Center, Osawatomie, Kansas: Schrader’s Gift Shop, Osawatomie, Kansas: Waymire’s Grocery Store, Ottawa, Kansas and Greeley Grocery Store , Greeley, Kansas.

June was a member of the First Baptist Church of Osawtomie and the True Grace Community Church in Melvern, Kansas. She was also a member of the Shuffle Board Association in Weslaco, Texas where they wintered for more than twenty-five years.

June was preceded in death by her husband and a brother, Jim Allan of Tulsa, Oklahoma.

She is survived by her three children: Bonnie Lee (Rick) Roberts of Shreveport, Louisiana, Charles (Terri) Weis of Paola, Kansas and Larry Weis of Paola, Kansas, four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Three brothers: Kenny Allan of Lebo, Kansas, Art Allan of Ottawa, Kansas and Bob Allan of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
