Janet Lorene “Jan” Page age 72, of Parker, Kansas died Friday June 7, 2013 at her home in Parker.
Jan was born December 19, 1940 in Kansas City, Kansas the third of four children born to David Edward and Susan Martha (Gunn) Knight.
She attended grade school in Kansas City, then the family moved to Parker her freshman year in high school. The following year they moved to Blue Mound and then back to Parker her senior year where she graduated from Parker High School in the class of 1959.
Jan married William Joseph Page on March 6, 1959 at the Baptist Church in Xenia, Kansas. The couple lived in Osawatomie for a short time then moved to Parker where they made their home and raised three children.
Jan worked in Osawatomie as a waitress and also was a seamstress for the Mode-o-Day store. Later she worked at the Osawatomie State Hospital as a cook.
Jan was a large part of her children and grandchildren’s lives. Everything she was involved with was because of them. She was devoted to her husband and her children and when her grandchildren came along she just continued on as before doing all she could for them. She never thought of herself, as always her family came first. When her family wanted to be in scouts or sports or any events she was there with them doing all she could. She loved being with her family and just being a part their lives and helping friends and the community. Jan was involved with the 4-H, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and the Parker Ball Association.
Jan was a founding member of the Park Board and raised enough money to start the development of the Heritage Park in Parker. For over ten years she organized the golf tournaments for Parker Days.
She was a life long member of Beta Sigma Phi and a member of the First Baptist Church of Parker.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one grandson Jeremy Clinton on January 15, 1994 and one infant great grand daughter Layla Tacy in November 15, 2007.
