Clayton Edwin Baird 75, of Cadmus, Kansas died June 20, 2013 at his home and also the place of his birth, surrounded by family.

Clayton was born April 24, 1938 in Cadmus, Kansas the second of three sons born to Harold Everett and Leilah Maude (Burnett) Baird.

Clayton grew up in Cadmus and attended school there in a one room school house until the 8th grade. He then attended high school in Parker, KS graduating in the class of 1956.

On July 21, 1963 Clayton married Bonnie Sue Bratton in Beagle, Kansas. They made their home on Route 1 Fontana, Kansas just north of Cadmus. They became the parents of two children. Bonnie died on April 24, 1967.

Clayton married Barbara Ann Irwin on May 21, 1972 at the United Methodist Church in LaCygne. They made their home on their century old family farm west of Cadmus. They became the parents of three children.

Clayton was a full time farmer however he did work outside of the farm. He was employed at Taylor Forge in Paola, Kansas for about five years, Sheehan Dairy in Osawatomie for several years and Chisam Trailer in Kansas City, Kansas for fifteen years retiring in 2003.

He was a fifty year member of the Cadmus Grange and a member of the United Methodist Church of LaCygne, Kansas.

Clayton was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Bonnie and an infant brother Ray Everett Baird.

He is survived by his wife Barbara of the home, his five children: Susan (Mike) Gorman of Osawatomie, KS. Sally (Andy) Ravnikar of Springhill, KS, Paul (Annaliessa) Baird of Belton,MO. Penny(Jeff) Russell of Garnett, KS. and Peter(Shawna) Baird of Kansas City, KS. And nine grandchildren: Drew Ravnikar, Jordan Miller, Joe Ravnikar, Vance Gorman, Mollie Ravnikar, Kennah Ring, Kaylee Ring, Nathan Baird, Charlie Baird and one great-granddaughter Claire Ebly. He is also survived by his younger brother, Keith (Virginia) Baird, of Garnett, Ks, and other family & friends.
