Maxine M Roy age 96 of Osawatomie, Kansas, died Wednesday, July 3, 2013, at the Life Care Center of Osawatomie.

Maxine was born May 11, 1917, in Beagle, Kansas. She was the seventh child of eight children born to Charles “Max” Dedrick and Bertha (Hendrix) Dedrick.

She attended schools in Osawatomie and Parker, Kansas, and graduated from Parker High School in the class of 1936.
After graduation Maxine worked for the Osawatomie State Hospital.

On July 26, 1938, she married Sanford L. Holt in Olathe, Kansas. They made their home in Paola, Kansas, and became the parents of two daughters. Maxine worked for Nicholson Drug Store in Paola for 14 years. Sanford died April 11, 1963.


After leaving the drug store, she went to work for Miami County as Deputy to the Register of Deeds for another 14 years. During this time she married Damon Ricketts on October 14, 1965. Damon died on April 7, 1974. Maxine then retired a few years later.

On September 5, 1981, she married Herbert Roy. They too made their home in rural Osawatomie. Herbert died on May 16, 1987.

After the death of her husband, she became a foster grandparent for TriKo. She continued to be a foster grandparent for over 20 years.

She was a member of the St. Philip Neri Church in Osawatomie, the Rebekah Lodge, and the Eastern Star.

Maxine was preceded in death by her three husbands: Sanford, Damon and Roy, one daughter Sandra Leach who died in July of 2001, five brothers, two sisters, and a great-grandson Noah Reinecker.

She is survived by her daughter Judy Reinecker of Osawatomie, Kansas, four granddaughters Lori Stookey ( Osawatomie, Kansas), Kristin Armstrong (Winifred, Kansas), Pamela Thuem ( Conroe, Texas), and Cynthia Lambert (San Diego, California), eleven great-grandchildren, and two great-great-step grandchildren.
