Gloria Jeaneene Cortner age 76, of Olathe, Kansas formerly of Osawatomie died September 6, 2013 at the Villa St. Francis in Olathe.

Jeaneene was born August 30, 1937 in Osawatomie the oldest of three daughters to Robert Lee and Pearle Emogene (Willis) Cortner. She grew up in Osawatomie and attended Osawatomie schools graduating in the class of 1955.

In 1956 the family moved to Olathe, Kansas and opened a family run nursing home. Corkey’s Nursing Home was in business for many years and very well known in the Olathe area. Jeaneene worked as a nurse’s aide for the business from the opening until it closed. After the family business closed she went to work at another Olathe nursing facility.

Jeaneene never married, but had a family with her beloved dogs, she always had a dog or two and one of her last one’s was known as “Inky”. She loved to read and watch scary movies. She also enjoyed music and had an extensive record collection. Jeaneene had been a resident of the Villa St. Francis facility for the past four years.

While growing up in Osawatomie she attended the First United Methodist Church.

Jeaneene was preceded in death by her parents, and two younger sisters: infant sister Connie Janay Cortner in 1941 and Kay LaMarr Cortner on October 31, 2009.

She is survived by her Uncle Eugene Willis of Lees Summit, MO, five 1st cousins: Shirley Brecht of Emporia, KS, Katherine Weaver of Paola, KS, Michael Bruce Willis of Kansas City, MO, Dorothy Heckert Falls of Overland Park, KS and Vickie Lair of Kansas City, MO four (local) 2nd cousins: Patricia Schack, Kathy Troutman both of Osawatomie, KS Robia Weaver, Judy Preston both of Paola, KS and many other cousins and friends.
