Hayden Michael White age 12, of Osawatomie, Kansas died Monday, September 16, 2013 at his home after his courageous battle with cancer.
Hayden was born September 29, 2000 in Olathe, Kansas to Erik White and Jami Baker.
Hayden attended Cottonwood and Sunflower Elementary schools in Paola and Paola Middle School. Hayden was active in sports from a small boy playing baseball, soccer, football, skateboarding and riding ATV’s. He enjoyed Star Wars and Lego’s, and of course like any child of today his Xbox was a favorite pastime also. He loved camping and fishing, so when the family went on a camping trip to Wyoming he was delighted and always talked about going back. In September of 2011 he went to Santa Monica Pier and while watching the people fish from the pier he made the comment “Now that’s the life”.
Hayden was lucky enough to do some of the things he always wanted to do. Thanks to his family and the Make a Wish Foundation. He attended the Skateboarding Championships in New Jersey and had a “Meet & Greet” with Champion skateboarder Rob Dyrdek and the other pro’s. While in New Jersey he also went to see New York City. In July of this year he was chosen to throw out the first pitch at a Royals game. Hayden always talked of being a radio show personality and that dream came true when he got to host a Mix 93 radio show called the Hayden White Morning Show.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Paola, a Boy Scout and a member of Kays.
Hayden had a very positive attitude. He was an outgoing fun loving child. Always making you laugh and smile, he was quite the comedian. Trying to make everything good for those he loved, this being one of his attributes as a big brother to his younger siblings. Courage he had more than most adults, throughout his struggle with his illness he thought of his parents and family first, wanting to make things easier for them. His bravery, courage and smile will always be remembered.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather Darrell LaVerne White on February 8 1985.
Hayden is survived by his father and stepmother Erik and Randi White of Osawatomie, KS, his mother Jami Baker of Paola, KS, brothers: Masen, Corben and Owen Baker, sisters: Taylor and Kayleigh White, paternal grandmother Geraldine (Kuder) White of Osawatomie, KS, maternal grandparents Charles and Esther Eslick of Osawatomie, KS, step grandparents Martin and Theresa Munson of Fontana, KS, great-grandparents Raymond and Irene Kincaid of Kansas City, MO, step great-grandparents Thomas and Joyce Johnson of LaCygne, KS, Rev.
