Agnes Katherine Haas Dalton age 96, Osawatomie, KS died November 24, 2013 at the Life Care Center of Osawatomie.
Katherine was born November 24, 1917 in Parker, KS she was the eldest of five children born to August (Gus) and Flossie (Matney) Loch.
Katherine attend grade school at several different schools, 1st and 2nd grades she attended Deer Creek School and 3rd -4th grade at Mound Creek School and 5th through the first half of the 8th grade at Lonely Ridge School. The second half of the 8th grade she attended Beagle School system. Then attending Osawatomie High School from her freshman through her junior year, and graduating from Parker High School in the class of 1935.
She went to work at the Osawatomie State Hospital in 1936 as a Nurse Aide. She took two years of nurses training and worked one year and then left that position in 1939, when, she got married.
Katherine married Herschel E. Haas on June 28, 1939. They made their home in rural route LaCygne, Kansas and became the parents of three sons. Herschel died January 16, 1969, they were married almost thirty years. She later married Clay A. Dalton of Independence, Kansas in 1990. Clay died eight years later in 1998.
Katherine was a homemaker after she and Herschel were married, busy with three boys and a home to care for. She was a reporter of the Cadmus community for the Osawatomie Graphic, the Mound City Republic and the LaCygne newspapers for fifteen years. She later worked at the Osawatomie State Hospital after Herschel’s death, until 1979.
She also was a member of the Loyal Workers Club from 1939 until 2010, a faithful member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church of LaCygne, Kansas and the Our Lady of Lourdes Altar Society.
Katherine was preceded in death by her two husbands, and two sisters: Helen McBride on March 2, 2012 and Norma Stephens on August 30, 2013.
She is survived by her three sons: Larry Wallace Haas of LaCygne, KS, James Clifford “J.C.” Haas of Osawatomie, KS and Tony Lee (Ginger) Haas of Emporia, KS. Two sisters: Elsie Wilson of Osawatomie, Ks and Sharon Stites of Tucson, Az. Six grandchildren: Timerra Sankey of Salina, KS, Brock Haas of Gardner, KS, Amanda Swartz of Emporia, KS, Brandon Haas of Osawatomie, KS, Lani Keller of Lenexa, KS and Bryce Haas of Overland Park, KS.. Thirteen great grandchildren and one great, great, grandchild.
