Gwendolyn Elizabeth “Gwen” Miller age 65, of Paola, Kansas died Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at the Life Care Center of Osawatomie, Kansas.
Gwen was born in Fairfield, California on June 7, 1948, the fourth child of nine born to Albert Ray and Dorothy Marie (Bradly) Miller.
Gwen was the mother of two children one son Tony and a daughter Dorothy.
She grew up in California and in Kansas, then moving to Las Vegas as an adult. She worked at several different jobs, but her main career for over twenty years was working in the casinos’ as a “pit boss.” She enjoyed her position and was good at it. Gwen lived and worked in Las Vegas for twenty-two years. Moving back to Kansas in 1997 and then to Paola eight months ago.
She loved the outdoor life and one of her favorite things to do was going to Lake Meade just outside of Las Vegas. Gwen loved to fish and spend time outside. She was a very talented artist and did several paintings for family and friends.
Gwen was an animal lover, never would she pass up a stray, always taking them under her wing, loving, caring and nursing them back to health finding them a safe home. A spiritual person, kind and generous to a fault at times, but she didn’t care that’s just who she was, always willing to help anyone at any time.
Gwen was preceded in death by her parents, and three brothers: one infant brother David Steven Miller, Larry Cochran in 1998 and Richard Harrison “Rick” Miller on March 7, 2012.
She is survived by her two children: Tony Collins of Milo, Missouri and Dorothy King of Kansas City, Missouri And four sisters: Samanth “Maudie May” Greene of Louisburg, Kansas, Linda Snow of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, RaeAnn Ramsey of Paola, Kansas and Gale Davis of McKinney, Texas and one brother Mark Miller of Fontana, Kansas.
Gwen chose cremation for her final disposition and a Celebration of Her Life will be held from 2-3:30pm Saturday, February 15 th at the Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home.
A private committal of ashes will be at a later date.
