Edward Zakoura age 86, of Osawatomie, Kansas died Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at the Royal Terrace Nursing Home in Olathe, Kansas.

Edward was born September 5, 1927 in Osawatomie, Kansas the youngest child of five to Z.A. and Nabiha Mabel (Hazar) Zakoura.

He grew up in Osawatomie and attended school in the Osawatomie school system, graduating from Osawatomie High School in the class of 1947.

Edward worked at several different jobs, but mainly he did maintenance work and he also helped out at his family’s business which was the local Firestone Store.

He was a life time resident of Osawatomie and had a great love for his home town and the people in it. Edward was especially fond of the Osawatomie High School Alumni and attended the yearly reunion celebration and dance many times.


Edward was preceded in death by his parents and four siblings: George Zakoura, Fred Zakoura, Freda (Zakoura) Cole and Georgetta (Zakoura) Parente.

Edward is survived by nephews and nieces: Mike Zakoura of Leawood, Kansas, John D. Cole of Osawatomie, Kansas, JoAnn Gardner of Scottsdale, Arizona, Marsha McKeever of Jacksonville, Texas, James Zakoura of Overland Park, Kansas and Debbie Heyer of Paradise, Pennsylvania.
