Deann Jo Fuhr age 53, of Osawatomie, Kansas died Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at Miami County Medical Center.
Deann was born May 29, 1960 in Aurora, Illinois the third child of six to Eugene Oliver and Yvonnie Marie (Covey) Stookey.
When Deann was about eleven years old her father Eugene died and her mother remarried. Her stepfather Harlan Forbes was her “dad” for most of her life.
She grew up in Aurora and attended school there, graduating from Aurora High School with the class of 1979.
Deann became the mother of three children, Jimmy, Amy and Heather. Jimmy died at age three in May of 1985.
She was a single mom and was busy working and raising her children. Having family in Osawatomie she moved her family from Illinois to Osawatomie in 1992.
On October 9, 1993 she married Robert Fuhr. The family grew from two children to four when she and Robert became the parents of Robyn and David Scott “Scotty”. Robert died on July 27, 2001 in an auto accident the family was living in Edgerton, Kansas at the time. The family moved back to Osawatomie in 2012.
Deann had many different kinds of jobs, including Certified Nurse Aide and child daycare, most recently she was a press operator.
She was a funny, witty person with an outgoing, bubbly personality. She loved her family more than anything and like to spend time with them. Especially her only grandchild, Kyler an active three year old, he was her pride and joy. She was happy to recently find out two more boys were on the way in July and September. Deann underwent triple by-pass surgery in October of 2013 and had been recuperating at home. When she wasn’t visiting and enjoying her family or “chasing Kyler” she was reading, she was an avid reader of mystery and romance novels. One of her known sayings was “ Sleep is highly over rated !”
Deann was preceded in death by her husband Robert, one son Jimmy, her parents, one brother Steve Stookey in 2012, and her stepfather Harlan Forbes.
She is survived by her children: Amy Mitchell of Desoto, KS, Heather Stookey, Robyn Fuhr and David Fuhr all of Osawatomie, KS. two brothers Charles “Chuck” Stookey of Oswego, Ill and Ray Stookey of Osawatomie, KS, two sisters Sandra Fuhr of Osawatomie, Debbie Brown of Paola, KS and one grandson Kyler Creson also of Osawatomie, and two more grandsons to arrive this year, along with many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. She will be greatly missed by many.
