Juanita Gwendolyn Buckman...Age 87

August 1, 1926 — June 23, 2014

Juanita Gwendolyn Ronsick Buckman, 87 went to heaven to be with her Lord and Savior on June 23, 2014 at Life Care Center of Osawatomie, Kansas. She was born on August 1, 1926 to Alvin Conrad George and Leora Minnie Harris Ronsick in Topeka, Kansas.

She is survived by her husband Jim, her four children and their families, two sisters: Patricia Merritt Woods of Walnut Grove, California and Connie Elaine Williams of Spring Hill, Kansas, one brother Omar Alvin Ronsick and his wife Lois of Hutchinson, Kansas and one brother-in-law Max McCready of Osawatomie, Kansas. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister Lillian Margaret Barnes and her husband Dale, and one sister Vivian LaVerne McCready.

On October 16, 1946, Juanita married James "Jim" Loren Buckman. They were united in marriage at First Baptist Church, Paola, Kansas.

The family wishes to recognize their Dad, Mom, Grandpa and Grandma for being their foundation as to what love and faith can do in your life. Jim and Juanita have celebrated 67 plus years of marriage and have created a wonderful family.

To this marriage were born three sons and one daughter, 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Oldest son, Jack Loren Buckman and his wife of 42 plus years Vickie Sue Cullumber Buckman of Wichita, Kansas and their two children: Cassidae Lynn King and her husband Dennis of Pottsboro, Texas, and three great grandchildren: Zane, Sadae and Jase and Kyle Misha Buckman and his wife Brandi Lynn Mueller Buckman of Tualatin, Oregon, and two great grandchildren: Lucy and Micah.

Second son, John Alvin Buckman of Block, Kansas and his five children. Luke Joseph Buckman and his wife Lindsey Eddington Buckman of Osage City, Kansas and one great grandson, Layton. Shanna Suzanne Cook and significant other Allan Burton of Osawatomie, Kansas and two great grandchildren, Wyatt and Evan. Tiffany Jane Buckman and fiancée Dallas Wilson of Block, Kansas and two great grandchildren, Emily and Azayl, John Lawrence Buckman and friend Jenna of Gardner, Kansas and Seth James Buckman of Osawatomie.

Youngest son, Jeffrey Alan Buckman and his wife of 32 years Julie Marie Meredith Buckman of Las Vegas, Nevada and their three children; Meredith Marie Buckman Biggs and her husband William Biggs III of Reno, Nevada and one great grandchild, William IV; Melissa Michelle Buckman of Las Vegas, Nevada and Mason Mitchell Buckman of Reno, Nevada.

Only daughter, Janet Lee Buckman of Lebanon, Missouri.

Juanita was a member of the First Baptist Church of Osawatomie, Charter Member of the Harmony Home Demonstration Unit, National Association of Retired & Veteran Railway Employees, Inc., and a Life member of Ladies Auxiliary 6397 to the Veterans of Foreign War of the United States.

A life long resident of Miami County, Juanita graduated from Paola High School in 1944 and started her working career as a waitress at the Bide-a-Wee Cafe, Paola, Kansas. During the war, she went to work at Sunflower Ordinance Plant which is where she met the love of her life. After the war, she worked at Smith's Clothing Store. She spent time as a stay at home mother and was active in her children's lives including being a Den mother for cub scouts and finished her working career as a cook for Osawatomie Middle School where she worked for 19 years.

Memorials for Juanita can be made to the First Baptist Church of Osawatomie.
