Mary June Majors age 86, of Osawatomie, Kansas died July 12, 2014 at her home in rural Osawatomie.
June as she was known to everyone, was born June 20, 1928 in Arkansas City, Kansas the second of four children to Samuel Scott and Fannie Marie (Woolery) Modlin.
She grew up in the Kansas City area and graduated from Manual High School in Kansas City, Mo. As a young child growing up in Kansas City, June and her family received help from the City Union Mission and she always remembered the kindness they gave to her and her family. She was a faithful contributor of the City Union Mission and believed in their support of local families.
After high school she married C.D. “Chuck” Majors in Olathe, Kansas in 1946. The couple made their home in Kansas City and became the parents of one son, Michael. In 1955 they moved to a farm near Eudora, Kansas where they raised their son. They then moved to Camdenton, Missouri in 1985 and then to Clinton, Missouri a few years later. Chuck died while living in Clinton in 1993. June later moved to Mission, Kansas where she lived until moving to Osawatomie to live with her son Michael in May of 2002.
June worked in several technology positions for companies such as AT&T and RCA, retiring in the mid 1980’s.
She was an avid gardener for many years and loved canning her own vegetables. She was an outstanding cook and baker, family members were extremely fond of her homemade biscuits and her famous lemon bars. But most of all June enjoyed her family, she loved being a mother and grandmother. Her grandchildren, Bradley, Brandi and Chloe were most important to her, and of course her two great grandchildren Marcus and Anna.
June formerly attended the Stanley Bible Church in Stanley, Kansas and was a member of the women’s church group, Naomi’s Circle. She later attended the Lighthouse Presbyterian Church in Paola, Kansas.
June was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of forty-seven years, and two brothers.
She is survived by her son Michael (Sheila) Majors of Osawatomie, KS, three grandchildren: Bradley (Cathy) Majors of Baldwin, KS, Brandi Majors of Osawatomie, KS and Chloe Majors of Olathe, KS, one brother James, one sister Alice and two great grandchildren.
