Shizuyo “Teddy” Floyd age 82 of Paola, Kansas died Saturday August 23, 2014 at Del Mar Gardens in Overland Park, Kansas.

Teddy was born October 1, 1931 in Kawagoe, Japan to Saktaro and Hama Fukawa.  She is one of 5 children.

After Teddy finished High School she went to nursing school in Japan for two years. She was working as a nurse when she met Elmer Floyd Jr. He was in the Army and stationed in Japan.  The couple married in 1951 and moved to Chicago, Illinois.

In 1953 Elmer and Teddy moved to Osawatomie and started their family. Then in 1971, Teddy and her family moved to Paola. Together Elmer and Teddy had eight children, four boys and four girls.

While living in Osawatomie Teddy worked in a nursing home. After they moved to Paola Teddy started working for Lakemary Center and ended up working with them for 34 years as night care supervisor.

Teddy loved playing BINGO and going to the casinos.  She was a very good cook and liked to sew.  Most of all she loved her children and Grandchildren.

Teddy is preceded in death by her husband Elmer Floyd Jr and a grandson Anthony Floyd.

Survived by children; sons Damon (Roseanne) Floyd of North Platt, NE, Allen Floyd of Paola, KS, William Floyd of Osawatomie, KS, Charles Floyd of Wichita, KS, daughters Edna Mitchner of Lawrence, KS, Shelia Floyd of Edwardsville, KS, Barbara (Ronald) Wolfskill of Kansas City, MO
and Debra Floyd of Olathe, KS, twenty one grandchildren and twenty two great grandchildren.
