Grover Bruce Snow age 67, of Independence, Missouri, formerly of Osawatomie, Kansas died Thursday, October 16, 2014 at his home.

Bruce as he was known to everyone, was born in Louisburg, Kansas on January 8, 1947 the oldest child of two born to William and Rachel (Harper) Snow.

He was raised in both Missouri and Kansas graduating from Kingsville High School, Kingsville, Missouri in the class of 1965.

After finishing school Bruce enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He served his country for six years, which included a tour in Vietnam.

While stationed at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina he met Joyce Pinyon and her infant son Phillip. The couple married in 1969 and a few years later Bruce adopted Phillip. Bruce was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant from the United States Marines Corps in 1971. The family moved to Kansas and settled in Osawatomie for several years. His wife Joyce died in 1995, they had been married for over twenty-six years, Bruce never remarried.

Bruce was a truck driver until 1985, he then went to work for the USDA until he retired two years ago.

He loved sports and was an avid K.C. Chiefs and Royals fan. Even through the rough days at the end of his life, he kept up with the Royals recent success. He enjoyed fishing and chatting with his fellow mates at the local VFW in Independence, MO where he was a member.

Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, his step mother Wanda Snow, step-father Herb Seck and his wife Joyce.

He is survived by his son Phillip I. Snow of Osawatomie, KS, two grandsons: Dylan Snow of Osawatomie, KS and Colton Hiracheta of Gardner, KS. One brother, William Roy Snow, three half-brothers, Floyd Ray, Jesse Ray and Grover William Snow Jr. and one half-sister Rosie Snow.
