Rose “Debbie” Brown age 52, of Paola, Kansas died Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at the Miami County Medical Center in Paola.

Debbie was born December 15, 1961 in Aurora, Illinois, she was the fourth child of six. Her parents were Yvonne Marie (Covey) Stookey Forbes and step-father Harlan Forbes. Debbie and her siblings loved Harlan and to them there was no “step” in the man they called “Dad”.

She attended school in Aurora at both St. Peters Catholic School and West Aurora High School.

In 1985 Debbie moved to Paola, Kansas to be near her sister Sandra. Two years later she married the love of her life Bryan Scott Brown on June 6, 1987 at the First Baptist Church in Paola. They made their home in Paola and became the parents of two daughters, Lena and Holly. Debbie and Bryan were married for over twenty-seven years.

Debbie was mainly a wife, mother and homemaker, however she did work outside the home. She was employed at Lifecare Center of Osawatomie in the housekeeping and laundry department for seven years. Leaving there to go to work at the Ursuline Academy in Paola as the 3 rd floor supervisor in the care facility for the aging Sisters.

Debbie was the hub of the family’s social network, always keeping check on everyone. Brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews she watched out for all of them. And when it came to holidays and celebrations it was she who organized and held them at her home. The 4 th of July and Christmas were the ones Debbie loved the most and large family gatherings were her delight.

She was a loving, kind hearted woman who helped not only family, but anyone who needed a lending hand or a shoulder to cry on, she was always the first one there with a warm smile and a hug or two.

Debbie loved animals and owned a “crazy” kitty named “Ozzy” and two Cockatiels “Baby & “Ziggy” who loves to whistle the theme song of TV show “Mayberry” and bark like a dog at the cat. But somehow these animals seem to fit with Debbie’s personality. She was known to pull pranks and just be “Silly” like chucking stuffed animals from one isle to the other at her brother in Wal-Mart.  She enjoyed her vegetable garden and preparing the fresh foods for her family and friends.

But most of all she loved being a wife to her husband, a mother to her daughters and Grandma to her five grandchildren. She will be missed everyday by her family and friends, but the love she gave to all will be remembered with a tear and a smile.

Debbie was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Steve Stookey in 2012, one sister Deann Fuhr on April 1, 2014 and one nephew.

She is survived by her husband Bryan of the home, two daughters: Lena Clancy (Richard Courtwright) of Osawatomie, Holly (Shaun) Scott, of Osawatomie, two brothers Ray (Lori) Stookey of Osawatomie, Chuck Stookey of Oswego, Illinois, one sister Sandra Fuhr of Osawatomie and five grandchildren: Bryant and Angelique Clancy, Aubrey, Hailey and Kylee Scott.

Visitation will be 6-8 pm Tuesday, November 25, 2014, funeral services will be 1:30pm Wednesday, November 26 th both will be held at Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home, Osawatomie, KS. Burial to follow in the Osawatomie Cemetery, Osawatomie, KS.

Memorials are to Rose M. “Debbie” Brown Memorial Fund and may be sent in care of Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home, P.O. Box 430, Osawatomie, KS 66064.
