~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Billy Rex “Bill” Foster age 81, of Lane, Kansas died Monday, December 8th, 2014 at the Miami County Medical Center.
Bill was born December 6, 1933 in Viola, Arkansas, he was the youngest child of fifteen born to William Rex and Ethel Foster.
Bill grew up in Arkansas and attended school there until the death of his father when he was only fourteen. Even though he was the youngest child he left school to go to work and help out the family.
Bill married several time during his life and became the father of four children. After a couple of failed marriages he met someone who he knew was the one for him, her name was Patricia. They soon married, sadly Patricia died in 1985.
Bill lived and worked in Kansas City, Missouri for a number of years. He was a truck driver by trade and worked for many different companies throughout the years. Bill retired from trucking in 1994 and moved to his farm just outside of Lane in 1995.
It did not take him long before he was haying and raising cattle. He made new friends and enjoyed driving to Osawatomie for dinner or just to have a cup of coffee, talking with buddies and tease the waitresses at the local café’s.
Bill was a man that liked nature and the simple life. He enjoyed fishing and hunting in his younger days, and after moving to Lane it was his farm and his animals that gave him pleasure. If you couldn't find him just look in the field and you would see him “napping” in his truck encircled by all his cows.
But most of all he loved his family, and his grandchildren were most important to him. He had the joy of son Mike and family sharing his house and he loved having the grandchildren close. He will be missed by family members, friends and all his coffee buddies.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and siblings.
He is survived by his four children: Michael R. “Mike” (Rachel) Foster of Lane, KS, Richard M. Foster of Kansas City, MO, Sharon (Daniel) Reitinger of Paola, KS and Rebecca (Rick “Slick”) Richardson of St. Petersburg, FL, twelve grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
