Percy Lawrence Cox Jr. age 89, of Littleton, Colorado died Saturday, January 17, 2015.

Percy was born May 7, 1925 in Farlinville, Kansas. He was the 5th child of 6 children born to Percy Lawrence Cox Sr. and Ethel (Poole) Cox.

He attended school in the Osawatomie School System. While still in school he entered the Navy on September 27, 1943 and then on April 16, 1946 he was honorably discharged as a Motor Machinist’s Mate 3rd class. After being discharged Percy went back to Osawatomie and graduated with the class of 1947.

On May 9, 1948 Percy married Pauline O. Rodgers in Osawatomie. They made their home in Miami County, Kansas and became the parents of two sons. Pauline died on October 3, 1999, they had been married for fifty-one years.

Percy worked for the Hercules Ammunition Plant in Desoto, Kansas, later becoming a pipefitter. The family moved from Miami County to Johnson County, Kansas in 1957. Percy moved his family to Lenexa, Kansas where he and Pauline lived and raised their two sons until after the boys graduated from high school. In 1972 they moved to Colorado, living in the surrounding areas of Denver, which included Englewood where they lived for many years. Percy then moved to Littleton, Colorado where he lived for his remainder of his life.

Percy worked for Gates Rubber Company as a pipefitter retiring from there in 1987.

He and Pauline liked to travel and extensively traveled across the country for many years in their RV. In later years they were “snowbirds” wintering in the sun of Mission, Texas.
Percy was a member of the Littleton Methodist Church, a Mason and a member of the El Jebel Shrine in Denver, Colorado.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Pauline, and eldest son Mike Cox.

Percy is survived by his son Jeffery L and his wife Tina of Livingston, TX, daughter-in-law Anita J. Cox of Paola, KS, five grandchildren: Stefan, Brett and Brian Cox, Dana Castoro and Sara Brand, ten great-grandchildren and many other family and friends.
Formal services were held in Aurora, CO January 20, 2015 with Military Honors. A private burial will be in the Osawatomie Cemetery.
