Jeffrey Allen “Jeff” Johnson, age 54, of rural Fontana, Kansas lost his battle with Cancer on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at the Olathe Hospice House in Olathe, Kansas.
Jeff was born on December 31, 1960 in Kansas City, Missouri. He was the eldest child of three, born to Arthur Lee and Sharon Jo (Worthington) Johnson.
He grew up in Overland Park, Kansas and attended school and graduated from Shawnee Mission West High School in the class of 1980.
Jeff was married in 1981 to Traci (Danford) Rand and this union was blessed with one child, Hollie Ann. The marriage ended a few years later.
In the 1980’s Jeff attended a local Vo-Tech School, attaining a certification for small engine repair. In 1983 he started his life-long career as a printing press operator at Graphic Technology in Gardner, Kansas. Jeff remained in this profession and was most recently employed by Reliance Label in Paola, Kansas.
Jeff met his wife, Kendra Kuder while employed at Graphic Technology. The couple were together for 22 years, marrying on May 10, 2003 at Milldale Farms in Edgerton, Kansas. They made their home in rural Fontana, Kansas.
Jeff enjoyed boating on the lake with his family and friends in his younger years. He was a NASCAR enthusiast, always cheering for Dale Earnhardt Jr, and of course, he was a lifelong Chiefs fan.
Jeff enjoyed many great times at the family farm. He even attempted to build a little cabin out of shipping pallets, lovingly known to everyone as “the halfway house” because it was only half way completed. He finally finished it many years later and it is now enjoyed by all.
He was an animal lover and he and his wife Kendra have four dogs that are truly their “kids”. Jeff was especially fond of a little Chihuahua dog they found stranded on the streets. Jeff took him home and named him “Chico”. He was known to forgo his Christmas gift in lieu of a donation to a pet rescue.
Jeff was proud of his home in the country and always kept it beautifully manicured with a park-like setting. Working outside was a passion for him and you could always find him outside cutting wood, playing with the dogs, or just tending to his land.
He was a fantastic husband, terrific father, a wonderful brother, a proud loving grandfather and a man many family and friends will miss every day. Jeff was an amazing person, loving, kind, generous to a fault and admired by everyone who knew him.
Jeff was preceded in death by his mother and father.
He is survived by: wife Kendra of the home, daughter Hollie (Travis) Johnson-Berndt of Overland Park, KS, sister Julie (Mark) Gibson of Wellsville, KS, brother Jim (Kim) Johnson of Merriam, KS, two grandchildren: Haiden and Laila Johnson-Berndt and four nieces and nephews: Jeremiah Gibson, Mikenzi Gibson, Michael Berry, Jacob Johnson. Four great nieces and nephews: Colten Johnson, Maddex Doherty, Presley Gibson, Lochlen Gibson. And of course his four faithful companions: Maggie, Sammie, Cole and Chico (de man).
