Frank Fox DeRemus age 73, of Drexel, Missouri formerly of Osawatomie and Olathe, Kansas died Monday, February 16, 2015 at his home.
Frank was born February 2, 1942 in Kansas City, Kansas the younger of two son born to Aldwin Emerson and Delores Faye (Heller) DeRemus.
He grew up in Shawnee, Kansas and attended school in the Shawnee Mission school district. When Frank was eleven years old he became stricken with two kinds of Polio and spent many months in an Iron Lung in Kansas City. He nearly did not survive this disease and many of the doctors gave up hope that he would pull through. But with the love of his mother and his own determination he did survive and lived for sixty-two more years.
At the age of seventeen he left school and began working with his father in the family painting business. Frank was an excellent painter and painted thousands of homes and businesses in the Kansas City area. He carried on a family trade that continues to this day by his youngest son, Scott. Frank retired from painting in 2008.
Frank was married four times during his life and all ended in divorce. However he had five wonderful children that he loved very much. Frank was not the type of man to speak of his emotions or of how he felt, but he loved his children and his grandchildren and bloodline was of no issue, to him they were all his and he loved them.
He lived most of his life in Kansas, for many years in Olathe, then moving to Houston, Texas from 1981 until 1987, he then moved back to Kansas and finally to Osawatomie for about ten years. In the summer of 2009 he moved to a retirement community in Drexel, Missouri. Frank made a lot of new friends in the small community of Drexel and truly enjoyed living there.
Frank liked to fish and enjoyed dropping a line in the water when he had the opportunity, he liked to watch movies and read. For the last several years you could find him on his computer most every day. He liked to spend time on Facebook talking to friends and family and he always posted a silly joke for everyone to read. Frank was his own person and that was part of what made him special, he will truly be missed.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents, and one grandson Dakota DeRemus.
He is survived by his children: Welsey( Kim) DeRemus of Osawatomie, KS, Martin (Chris) DeRemus of Dallas, TX, Scott (Jen) DeRemus of Olathe, KS , Wendy McCarley of Osawatomie, KS and Rhonda (Mike) Thompson of Gardner, KS, one brother Laurence(Claudia) DeRemus of Bakesville, NC, eleven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren along with many nieces, nephews and other family members.
