Ruby Marie Hunsperger age 82 of Osawatomie, Kansas died Monday March 23, 2015 at North Point Skilled Nursing Center of Paola, KS.

Ruby was born August 25, 1932 in Medford, Oklahoma. She was the eldest of four children born to Adolph James and Margaret Agnes (KaBureck) Stocksen.  As a child Ruby helped her dad on the farm with the milk cows.  She attended school in Lane, KS. Graduating from Lane High School with the class of 1950.  After high school Ruby attended one year of college at Wichita State University.

She then started working at the Osawatomie State Hospital, where she met her future husband, James “Jim” LeRoy Hunsperger.  Jim and Ruby were married August 11, 1955 in Paola, Kansas. They became the parents of three children, Bret, Mary Beth and Cody.  They lived in Rural Osawatomie but in the mid 60’s Jim, Ruby and their three children moved to town where they made their home.

Ruby loved to spend time with her family. She was great at storytelling and cooking.  Being most famous for her macaroni & cheese, fried chicken and chicken bread.  Ruby enjoyed the Holidays with her family, Christmas Eve and Christmas Morning being her favorite. She loved to play the guitar and many times you would hear her playing and singing “You are my Sunshine”.  She also entertained the residents where she lived by playing her guitar and even yodeling.

Jim and Ruby traveled to 33 states and Canada on their Harley Davidson motorcycle.  They loved old tractors and enjoyed restoring them.  Many hours were spent driving many miles for old tractor parts.  The finished projects were given to their sons, daughter and grandsons.

Ruby is proceeded in death by her husband  Jimof over 55 years. Her parents and one brother David Stocksen.

She is survived by her daughter Mary Beth Hunsperger, two sons Bret (Shirley) Hunsperger and Cody (Krysti) Hunsperger all of Osawatomie, KS. Two grandchildren Morgan (Tanner) Stevenson and Garret Hunsperger also of Osawatomie, KS.  Two step grandsons, Bo (Jennifer) Ferguson and Chris (Nycole) Ferguson both of Ottawa, KS. Six Great Grandchildren, Alexis, Jaxon and Garron Stevenson. Kaity, Mazie and Owen Ferguson. Two brothers Raymond Stocksen of Garnett, KS and Daniel Stocksen of Emporia, KS.  Along with numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
