Marjorie Ann Snyder Roberts age 86, of Osawatomie, Kansas died Thursday, March 26, 2015 at the Golden Living Nursing Home in Springhill, Kansas.

Marjorie was born February 26, 1929 in Parker, Kansas the eldest child of six born to James and Leoti (Hope) Creighton. However James and Leoti raised seven children fostering a boy as their own, Robert Sullivan.

Marjorie grew up in Parker, attending school there and graduating from Parker High School with the class of 1948.

From the age of sixteen her sweetheart was Otis Lee Snyder of Osawatomie, KS. In October of 1948 the young couple married and made their home in Osawatomie, later becoming the parents of five children: Otis, William, Sandra, Steve and Julie. Sandra died a few hours after her birth.

Marjorie went to work for the Osawatomie State Hospital in 1955. She was a Mental Health Tech and worked there for thirty-six years, retiring in 1991.

She and Otis Lee divorced after thirty-eight years of marriage in 1986. Eight years later she married Stephen Harmon Roberts. They too made their home in Osawatomie and were married for seven years when Stephen died on November 21, 2001

Marjorie enjoyed crocheting and making hats and Afghans, which she gave to everyone. She sent them to family members and friends near and far. She liked to work in her yard and feed the birds. She loved tending her many flowers that she also loved to give away. She was an avid camper and enjoyed camping with her family and friends at their family place at Hidden Valley Lake. Her second husband Stephen was a musician, playing the mandolin, they attended many dances and events where they enjoyed dancing with each other.

Marjorie was a fun person and enjoyed sharing that with others so much she attended a “Clown School” in Kansas City. She was known to visit many Miami County local schools to entertain the children, at grand openings for many businesses and private parties. But her most favorite thing was spending time with her children and her grandchildren. She was a wonderful grandmother and loved being one so much, that she became a grandmother in the Foster Grandparents program from the mid 1990’s until 2009. Marjorie always made sure her foster grandchildren had one of her crocheted winter caps from Grandma Marjorie to keep them warm all winter.

She was a member of the Faith Baptist Church of Osawatomie for many years.
