Kathryn Elizabeth Long age 63, of Osawatomie, Kansas died Monday, March 30, 2015 at the Miami Medical Center in Paola, Kansas.
Kathy was born August 14, 1951 in Kansas City, Kansas the eldest child of seven born to Virgil Daniel and Evelyn Ruth (Saunders) Cecil.
She grew up in Basehor and DeSoto, Kansas and attended DeSoto High School.
While out with friends at the local hang-out the “Dew Drop Inn” in DeSoto, she met her future husband Carl J. Long. The couple hit it off right away and on July 14, 1972 at the courthouse in Paola, Kansas they began their life together. Kathy and Carl have been married for over forty-two years.
They became the parents of two sons, Terry and Brian along with Carl’s two children from a previous marriage they became a family of six. Kathy and Carl settled in Osawatomie and raised their family here.
Kathy worked for about ten years for ASI-Aviation Systems in the production of circuit boards. She mainly was a homemaker, wife and mother. She was a loving mother and grandmother spending as much time with her family as she could.
Kathy was unable to work for about the last twelve to fifteen years due to failing health.
Kathy was not able to go out as much as she would have liked to, but she always made a point for her and Carl to go visit their granddaughter Kaitie at least once a week no matter how she was feeling. Kaitlyn was her light and her love for the past eleven and a half years.
She enjoyed playing Bingo until her health did not allow her to do so, but she did liked to watch television especially the home shopping network. Kathryn always loved a good bargain. She collected salt and pepper shakers and was extremely fond of wind chimes.
Kathryn was a former member of the Eagles Lodge of Paola, Kansas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and three brothers: Charles, Randy and Virgil D. Cecil Jr.
Survivors include her husband Carl of the home, her children Terry (Tamara) Long of Paola, KS, Brian Long of Paola, KS, Carl (Margo) Long Jr.of Springfield, MO and Kim (Robert) Bauchom of Liberty, MO. Two brothers: Victor and Allen Cecil both of Paola, KS and one sister Bonnie Archer also of Paola, KS. Five grandchildren, one great grandchild and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews along with a lifetime of fiends, she will be missed by many.
