Carroll L. Spencer age 91 of Rantoul, Kansas died Tuesday May 5, 2015 at his home.

Carroll was born in Cedar Spring, Missouri January 4, 1924 the fifth of six children born to Fred and Ada Mae (Long) Spencer. He attended school in El dorado Springs, Missouri and graduated with the class of 1941.  A year after he graduated, Carroll enlisted in the United States Coast Guard on December 10, 1942. While in the Military he spent most of his time on a ship.  He traveled around the world two times.  Then on March 12, 1946, Carroll was honorably discharged. He then moved to Wyoming for a year and worked for the Government, surveying land.

Carroll decided to move home and that is when he met Evelyn Sisk. They married August 27, 1955 in Kansas City, Missouri. Carroll then started working for General Motors.  After five years, Carroll was transferred to Delco Battery a subsidiary of General Motors in Olathe, Kansas. Soon after they moved to Spring Hill, Kansas where they made their home and together raised three children. Carroll worked for Delco Battery in the production area for 26 years. He retired in August of 1983.

Before retiring in 1976, Carroll and his family moved to Rantoul, Kansas.  After retirement, Carroll started farming and raising cattle.

Carroll was not much for traveling before or after his retirement, but he did enjoy hunting and fishing locally. He was an avid KC Royals and KC Chiefs fan, but most of all a fan of his children and grandchildren. He loved to watch them play sports, this was something that truly made him happy.

He was a former member of the Masonic Lodge of Spring Hill, Kansas and a current member of the Ruhamah Baptist Church of Rantoul.

Carroll was preceded in death by his parents, his only son David L. Spencer in 2014, his three brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include his wife of almost sixty years Evelyn of the home, two daughters: Kathryn (Ken) Needs of Bella Vista, Ark, Karen (Mike ) Hill of Osawatomie, KS, four grandchildren: Jeff Needs, John Needs, Matt McClendon, Dustin McClendon and six great grandchildren,  along with numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
