Marjorie Ruth (Conley) Prentice, 94, longtime resident of rural Parker, Kansas, passed away at Vintage Park in Osawatomie on Sunday, June 7, 2015.

Marjorie was born February 9, 1921, near La Cygne, Kansas and was the oldest of seven children of Arthur Leonard Conley and Ruth Elizabeth (Hensley) Conley.

She spent her early years in Baca County, Colorado, before moving back to rural Linn County, Kansas, near La Cygne. She was a 1938 graduate of Parker Rural High School.

She married Eugene Warner Prentice on February 2, 1941 in Kansas City, Kansas. They made their home near Parker, Kansas and became the parents of three sons, Kenneth, Donald and David.

Marjorie enjoyed being a homemaker and was a prolific gardener, growing beautiful flowers and lots of tasty vegetables. She canned much of her produce. She sewed her own clothes and loved to teach various crafts to others. Marjorie was also an avid quilter and made many beautiful quilts, as well as cross-stitching wonderful designs to adorn her canning jars.

She was a lifelong member of the Parker United Methodist Church, a Life Member of the Parker Community Historical Society, worked on the Election Board for many years and was a member of the Linn County EHU (Extension Homemaker’s Unit).

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Eugene of 67 years and two brothers: Harland Earl Conley and Arthur Leonard Conley Jr.

She is survived by her three sons, Kenneth and Sandra Prentice of Shawnee, Kansas, Donald and Gail Prentice of Santa Paula, California, David and Diane Prentice of Upper Marlboro, Maryland, four sisters: Louise Crisler of North Kansas City, MO, Eva Frazee of LaCygne, KS, Marian Hayes of Nevada, MO and Leola Mundell of Pleasanton, KS. Four grandchildren, five great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
