Helen Jo Tyrell, age 93, of Fort Myers, jFL, died August 18, 2013 in League City, TX. Helen was cremated.
Helen was born November 11, 1919 in Fontana, KS. She went to school in Fontana and graduated withe the class of 1936.
She then attended the Ursuline Academy in Paola for two years and subsequently taught in an all-grade, one room country school.
After high school she had met Robert. L. Tyrell of Osawatomie and they married on May 19, 1940. Robert and Helen lived in Kansas City until the end of WWII and had two sons, Bob and Richard. They then moved to Coffeyville, KS where they made their home.Helen worked for the Condon Bank for over fifteen years. Robert died in 1971, Helen stayed in Coffeyville for two more years.
She moved to Forty Myers, Florida in 1973 where she lived for most of the remainder of her life. She worked as a teller in a local bank until retirement. She then worked part-time in a ladies' gift shop in a hotel in Fort Myers.
Helen was a bright lady who was and avid dancer, a loving mother of two, a grandmother of four and a great grandmother of five, told a good joke and generally loved life. Her great good spirit will be sorely missed.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband Robert L. Tyrell and son Richard K. Tyrell.
Survivors include son Bob (Deborah) Tyrell of League City, TX, daughter-in-law Diana Tyrell of Overland Park, KS, four grandchildren: Chris, Shannon, Eric and Kevin and five great grandchildren.
