Leroy Robert Owens age 80, of rural Osawatomie, Kansas died Friday, August 28, 2015 at his home.

Leroy was born July 16, 1935 in Kansas City, Missouri one of six children born to Fred Owens and Alice Anderson. He grew up in the Kansas City area and attended school there.

Early in life he married and became the father of one son Jonnie, the marriage later ended.

Leroy worked in various positions throughout his life, doing different types of labor jobs, but mostly in the construction industry, however he did work for a tree service for a short time and in the maintenance department at a school for a few years.

Leroy lived in Tonganoxie, Kansas for about twenty years before he moved to Perry Lake near Ozawkie, Kansas. While living in Tonganoxie he met Emilee Seitter. A year later on July 12, 1994 Leroy and Emilee married at the Wyandotte County Courthouse. The couple remained living in Ozawkie until moving to rural Osawatomie, Kansas in 2012.

He was a kind and loving man who liked to hang out with his family and friends, watch western movies and was always helping someone with something.

Leroy was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife Emilee of the home, son Jonnie Owens of Oskaloosa, KS two step children: William Dougherty and Cindy Elliott both of Parker, KS, four grandchildren, two step grandchildren and one step great grandchild.
