Judith Ann Pentlin age 62, of Osawatomie, Kansas died Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at her home.
Judy was born April 20, 1953 in East St. Louis, Illinois. She was the youngest of three children born to Eugene Edward and Alpha Omega (Nesler) Sims. Judy grew up in the St. Louis area and graduated Valedictorian from Dupo High School with the class of 1971 and attended one year at Southern Illinois University.
She married, the now deceased, Danny Thomas in the early 1970’s and became the mother of three children, Rene, Seth, and Annie.
In 1980, while attending the Feast of Tabernacles at the Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri, she met her future husband John David Pentlin. Judy moved to Olathe, Kansas, and married John on May 16, 1981, who had fathered two children from a previous marriage, John Jr., and Ja’Net. The wedding not only took place at John’s parents’ home, but John’s father was the officiating minister. In the fall of 1982, Judy gave birth to their daughter, Becky.
The family moved to Osawatomie, Kansas in the spring of 1999.
Judy was a devoted wife and mother, and still found the time to work outside the home. She enjoyed working as a records researcher and worked for three different title insurance companies over twenty years. Judy stopped working in April of 2014.
Judy often put others before herself and really loved to make everyone happy. She was one to go along with everyone’s plans and just enjoyed being with people at any event or celebration. Judy was gentle and profoundly compassionate and always exuded a positive spirit and attitude. She loved to laugh and spend time with her family, her grandchildren, and her friends. She liked musicals, and enjoyed country music. She loved dancing the two-step with John. Judy loved to play all types of games, especially cards, cross-word puzzles, and solitaire on her computer.
She was an active member of the Church of God a Worldwide Association (COGWA) where her husband is an elder. She was a pianist at the church and enjoyed playing music for the congregation. Judy was extremely sharp in math and it was only natural she be the church treasurer along with serving in several other church activities.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Larry Sims, and father of three of her children, Danny Thomas.
Survivors include her husband John of the home, two sons: John David Pentlin Jr. of Olathe, KS, Seth Edward Thomas of Lee’s Summit, MO, four daughters: Rene (Chad) Bubanas of Navarre, FL, Ja’Net Audrene (Jeff) Minden of Olathe, KS, Ann Marie (Robert) Bailey of Navarre, FL and Rebecca Sue Pentlin of Olathe, KS, one sister: Marilyn Sue (Dick) Steele of Table Rock Lake, MO, and eight grandchildren: Darien, Kim, Cameron, Dylan, Dajah, Scotty, Hailey, Owen, along with many other relatives, friends and church family.
Judy will be sincerely missed in this physical life, but she has, no doubt, finished her race and will receive her crown of life at the coming of Christ.
