Paul Dean Castleberry 79 of the rural Garnett Kansas area passed away Saturday November 7 2015 at his home.
Paul was born December 10, 1935 in Osawatomie KS, one of six children born to Clarence Edger Castleberry and Bulah Males (Cole) Castleberry. He grew up in Lane KS and graduated from Lane High School with the class of 1954.
Paul worked and helped out on the family farm while growing up. He later moved on and married Patsy Ann Lyons and was blessed with two children Brian and Janet.
Paul had many jobs throughout his life. He’d worked for a tree nursery in Ottawa, KS, drove a large truck for the U.S. Postal Company, repaired hydraulics and worked as a grounds keeper /maintenance for a golf course in Florida. (Golfing was also a passion in life for Paul.).
Paul met Peggy Ann (Baucom) Harper they married, Peggy had two daughters and one son from a previous marriage (Virginia Lamp, Edna Harper, and Kevin Harper.) They moved back to Osawatomie where Paul worked at some other odd jobs till later taking over Baucoms small engine repair shop.
Paul later lost Peggy in an automobile accident. Paul closed the shop and retired after the accident.
In 1998 Paul met Phyllis Ann Gibson the couple were united in marriage June 13 at the Old Stone Church in Osawatomie. The two then moved to the Garnett area where they purchased 20 acres and called it home.
Paul enjoyed mowing and tinkering on lawnmowers. But most of all Paul enjoyed his grandchildren and great grandchildren they always brought a smile to his face. And we can’t forget the joy that he got from his friends. He really had a way of making people laugh.
Paul is preceded in death by his parents, second wife, four brothers, and one sister.
Paul is survived by his wife Phyllis of the home, Brian Castleberry and wife Janie, Janet Anderson and husband Andy, Step children Virginia Lamp, Edna Harper, Kevin Harper,…..Chrissy Gutierrez, Alicia Hernandez, Niki Sutton, and Denise Fish. Eighteen grandchildren, and eleven great grandchildren.
